Olga Abramova on being expelled from the Ukrainian national team: “Why now, when our country needs unity, are we looking for traitors where there are none?” – Biathlon

Ukrainian biathlete Olga Abramovawhich is a naturalized Russian woman, commented on the information about the exclusion from the Ukrainian national team.

“Today, with great surprise, I read in the media information that I was fired from the Ukrainian biathlon team because of my country of origin.

Indeed, on February 24, while at a training camp in Syanki, Lviv region, for reasons independent of me, I had to leave the territory of the sports center and go to the Transcarpathian region. After that, having crossed the border with Hungary, I went to my one and a half year old daughter, who at that time was in Russia.

10 years of my sports career have passed under the Ukrainian flag, 10 years I have been a citizen of Ukraine and I am proud of it! And now my heart also hurts for all the people who suffer, for all the innocent victims and millions of ruined destinies.

But why then now, when our country needs unity and support, do we start some kind of internal disassembly and look for traitors where there are none? Because of the ambitions of one person, I have not stopped loving this country and people.

I wish you all patience, endurance in this difficult time and, of course, a peaceful sky above your head!” Abramova wrote.
