Honorary President Uli Hoeneß (71) heavily criticized the ex-Bayern boss on Sunday in the TV program “BR24 Wahl – Der Sonntags-Stammtisch”. First the patron from Tegernsee leathered after the State election in Bavaria against the Greens, then he took on Kahn’s sporting questions following the 3-0 win in the Bundesliga against Freiburg.
Hoeneß: “The appointment of Oliver Kahn as CEO was a big mistake. And when I realized that he couldn’t do that, I discussed it with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and changed it.”

After the Hoeneß attack, the titan now speaks out in BILD!
Kahn: “To be honest, I’m surprised about it. FC Bayern and I agreed in the summer that we wanted to close this chapter amicably and that I would like to remain part of the FC Bayern family in the future. I continue to stand by this. Uli Hoeneß’s current statements do not necessarily contribute to respectful relationships with one another.”
After days of public strife surrounding Kahn’s expulsion on matchday 34 of last season, according to BILD information, there was a conversation between President Herbert Hainer (69) and Kahn during the summer break. A peace summit!
Kahn’s contract (which ran until the end of 2024 with an estimated salary of €4 million) was terminated – with a severance payment of around four to five million euros. Both parties agreed to be friendly. The keeper legend should retain his status in the club. Then Hoeneß appeared on television on Sunday…

In the “BR” the ex-president also criticized the work ethic of the ex-board boss, whom he himself had installed as a supervisory board member: “Oliver Kahn recently said in an interview: ‘A CEO doesn’t have to work 24 hours a day. ‘ Then I replied: ‘It should be twelve hours.’”
Hoeneß explained his criticism of working hours: “We used to earn well as footballers, but we were aware that we would still have to work later to provide for the family. If a footballer plays football at Bayern for ten years, then he no longer has to work. Whether the player is prepared to work twelve hours a day, six days a week when that is no longer necessary – that is the big question.”
Hoeneß also expressed doubts about the dismissal of ex-coach Julian Nagelsmann (36/now national coach) at the end of March by Kahn and former sports director Hasan Salihamidzic (46). He said about the expulsion: “Which wasn’t necessarily wise…”

But Kahn now assures BILD: “In my role as CEO of FC Bayern, I always acted for the club with the best of my knowledge and conscience. Unfortunately, after some time it became apparent that there were different ideas about the club’s development and strategy. In the end it was better that everyone went their own way. That says everything.”
The Titan emphasizes: “Personally, I have made peace with the chapter and – still on friendly terms with the club – I look to the future with optimism.”
