Olkinuora prefers Detroit to Biel

Finnish goalkeeper Juho Olkinuora, who agreed to play with Biel in early May, will eventually play with Detroit next season. He signed for one year with the Red Wings.

Olkinuora (31) was named best player (MVP) of the World Championship which has just taken place in Finland. As announced by the Red Wings, he signed a ‘two ways’ contract with the club, worth 750,000 dollars. He will earn 375,000 dollars if he does not win his place in the NHL and plays in the minor league.

The goalkeeper is worth gold, he who contributed to the Olympic and world titles of Finland at the beginning of the year. Olkinuora therefore obviously exercised his exit clause so as not to materialize the agreement given to HC Bienne. The Zealand club had wanted to hire him to compensate for the long injury of Joren van Pottelberghe.

Juho Olkinuora has played the last three seasons in the KHL, first in Vladivostok, then in Magnitogorsk.
