Olympic ice hockey champion Sergei Yashin dies

At the age of 61, the 1988 Olympic champion in the USSR national hockey team Sergei Yashin died. About it reported press service of the Moscow “Dynamo”.

The hockey club expressed “deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sergei Anatolyevich.” The report notes that what happened turned out to be an irreparable loss for Dynamo sports.

“We mourn with you,” the message says. The cause of death of Sergei Yashin is not reported.

For the national team of the Soviet Union, Yashin played 35 matches. He scored 7 goals. In 1988 he became an Olympic champion. Yashin was also a two-time world champion, a three-time European champion.

Sergei Yashin was a Dynamo player from 1980 to 1990. He became the champion of the USSR. He also played for the Penza “Dieselist” and St. Petersburg SKA. He played for Nizhnekamsk “Neftekhimik”, “Dynamo” from Berlin, “Wilhelmshaven” and “Zelb” (all – Germany).
