ABU DHABI: Oman Etihad Rail Company has signed an MoU with Jindal to transport cargo from the Jindal Steel Complex on Oman’s Sohar coast to the UAE via a rail line.
According to the agreement, Jindal will be able to transport 40 lakh tonnes of raw materials and iron products annually from Sohar to the UAE by rail. The rail company will also provide technical assistance for loading and unloading of iron products.
The new system will eliminate the carbon pollution problems associated with transporting iron by road. This will enable the company to deliver more goods to the respective centers at a lower cost.
Rail company officials said that through this, Oman and UAE are ensuring nature-friendly transport system and cargo movement.
Oman Etihad Rail Company has entered into agreements with world-class companies for freight transportation. By creating new corridors, the company aims to facilitate the movement of goods and eliminate pollution caused by vehicles.
