The memory of the late former Defence Minister took center stage as public figures and citizens gathered for a solemn remembrance. The Group Chief Executive Officer of CDH Financial Holdings Limited, Dr. Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodie, delivered an emotional address remembering the public servant during the maiden annual lecture held at the Burma Hall on Tuesday, August 4. According to Citinewsroom, the gathering was designed to celebrate the enduring legacy of a leader deeply devoted to the future of Ghana.
Dr. Adu-Sarkodie highlighted the distinct personal choice made by the late official to remain invested in domestic development rather than pursuing opportunities abroad despite challenges facing the country. Pointing to this steadfast dedication, he underscored that nation-building requires active participation from citizens who choose to stay and build their homeland.
“We have gathered here once again to hear God’s word inspired by the life of a man who lived his word. Omane was fiercely patriotic. He was a true Ghanaian and did not want to leave the country. He always said people built where we want to go, and they had problems there but they stayed and built it, so we will stay and build Ghana, and this is the man we are here to honour.”

Remembering the Victims of the Ghana Air Force Helicopter Crash
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah was among eight individuals who lost their lives when a Z-9EH Ghana Air Force helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025. The aircraft went down while traveling toward the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of several senior public officials and military personnel.
The disaster resulted in an immense loss across multiple sectors of public service, cutting short the careers of prominent leaders and dedicated officers.
