“I started the Horeca business when I was a student in Louvain-la-Neuve then I stopped my studies to work in the Horeca business in Tournai. I love this city, I’ve always lived there and I can’t see myself living anywhere else. I have been a waiter at the Opera for two years so I knew the house, the kitchen and the chef who remains the same. One day I wanted to get into the Horeca business and have my own establishment,” confides Emilien Dorchies.

He joined forces with Stéphane Kaderi. “We have known each other for two years, we had done a carnival together but we didn’t know that each of us wanted to get into the restaurant business. We had this opportunity to take over the Opera together and that’s how the project was born,” adds Stéphane Kaderi.

The two managers took over the restaurant’s business and thought about what they were going to offer. They agreed on the molds. “We both already work on the Grand-Place and we can see that people love mussels and that this dish is very sold.” And to firmly anchor the concept in the minds of customers, they chose a name that could not be clearer: “O’Moules”. “It was very important for us to stay on the Grand-Place in Tournai. We first thought of calling our restaurant Le Saint-Quentin after the church on the Grand-Place but we ultimately opted for a name that directly highlights our flagship product! “.

100% homemade

The two men focus everything on the quality of the products. “We are starting in a very good month since October, November, December is the mussel season, even if in our time, we can find them all year round. You just need a good supplier. We created the menu with the chef, it’s a great collaboration.”

Other dishes will also be offered. “We don’t just offer mussels. We will have pasta, salads, a chicken skewer, a mutton skewer, cod in a parmesan crust… Everything is homemade! And from Monday to Friday lunchtime, we will offer a lunch with a suggested dish, a drink and a coffee for €16. Finally, a children’s menu will also be on the menu. We think of everyone.”

The restaurant seats 80 indoors and has a beautiful terrace with 114 seats. “There is also a room upstairs for groups or events.” The O’Moules restaurant opens this Sunday, October 1st in the heart of the Grand-Place in Tournai.
