If the first images give you a feeling of deja-vu, it is not the result of chance: On guard! takes up the title and concept of a small student project released in 2018. Totally rebuilt on the Unreal Engine 5, the action-adventure game has come a long way since time and promises “incredible adventures” in a fictional Iberian-leaning country of the 17th century. On guard! features Adalia de Volador, a renowned swordswoman determined to defeat the vile Count-Duke and his army of minions, all in a satirical atmosphere inspired by swashbuckling films from the Golden Age of ‘Hollywood. In addition to refined skirmish gameplay, the title also promises extensive interactions with the scenery in combat: Adalia is able to use copper buckets to blind the opponent or, in a more direct genre, propel them into the nearest wood rack.
