On the first working day of the East Rail Cross-sea Line, the traffic at Admiralty Station is not crowded

The cross-sea section of the East Rail Line from the northeastern New Territories to the core area of Hong Kong Island was officially opened to traffic yesterday (15th), and today (16th) is the first working day to operate. In the case of passengers, short-distance “bullet cars” will be dispatched when necessary. A reporter from East.com inspected the transfer of passengers at Admiralty Station at 7 o’clock this morning. They saw that the flow of people in the station was sparse, and the flow of people to work and school did not increase until 8 o’clock. Taiwan is not considered crowded, I believe it is related to the frequent diversion of trains.

Ms. Fung, who took the bus from Tai Wo Station to Admiralty Station for work today, pointed out that she has been looking forward to the cross-sea section of the East Rail for a long time. Resting in the car, although the car is more crowded than before, I still feel happy. Another passenger, Ms. Mok, believed that the compartment space was similar to that of the past, and it was 8 to 10 minutes faster for her to travel from Fo Tan to Admiralty for work. It is understood that a small incident occurred during the rush hour this morning. When a train arrived at Kowloon Tong Station, some passengers felt sick and vomited in the carriage. The MTR immediately arranged to empty the train and transfer it away for disinfection. The train service was temporarily blocked.

MTR said that during peak hours, the train frequency of the cross-sea section of the East Rail Line can be increased to every 2.7 minutes, which is believed to be sufficient to meet the needs of the flow of people on the first working day today. Special shifts will be sent. In addition, the MTR will reserve sufficient manpower at the initial stage of operation to ensure the smooth operation of the station, and an additional 400 staff will be dispatched, including assisting passengers to familiarize themselves with the line transfer and use the new station facilities. The cross-sea section of the East Rail Line is the 4th cross-sea railway in Hong Kong. It takes only 40 minutes to take this line between Admiralty and Sheung Shui Station, which is 15 minutes less than the previous transfer via the Tsuen Wan Line, and the fare remains unchanged; the new It only takes 5 minutes to travel to and from Hung Hom from the Convention and Exhibition Station, and the one-way fare is 10.1 yuan, which is on par with the current minimum fare for crossing the sea.
