A commission from the Venezuelan Mining Corporation (CVM) was the victim of an ambush on Troncal 10, in which one man was killed and another was injured.

The attack was recorded this Friday on the border between the Sifontes and El Callao municipalities.

The group was intercepted by armed men who stole the gold collected in the southern sectors of Bolívar state.

The deceased was identified as Franklin Bustamante, head of the mining sector at kilometer 27, who was shot in the right intercostal area.

Bustamante presented injuries to the liver, kidney and right lung, for which he underwent surgery at the Plan Salud Private Medical Center in Tumeremo; where he passed away hours later.

Unofficially, it was learned that Bustamante’s body was transferred to the Manuel Carlos Piar Airport, in Puerto Ordaz, to pay tribute to him before taking his remains to the state of Táchira, where he was from.

Some friends and acquaintances that he had in the area gave him the last goodbye.

In the incident, Ronald Galíndez, head of the kilometer 88 mining sector, was also injured, suffering a bullet wound to the right foot.

Galindez was treated at the Dr. Juan Germán Roscio Hospital, in El Callao.
