One person died and three injured following the collapse of the roof of a sports center caused by an intense hailstorm that fell on Quito on Saturday. The rainy season in Ecuador has claimed 44 lives and injured 92 since the start of the year.
“Due to the weight of the large amount of hail that settled on the roof of the structure, it collapsed, affecting people doing sports,” the Civil Protection Service said. ECU 911, in a press release.
One person was found dead and three others were injured, without ECU 911 specifying the severity of their injuries. The accident took place in a northern district of the Ecuadorian capital, where heavy rain mixed with hail fell in the followingnoon.
