A series of shots broke the silence of the night in San Pedro de los Milagros this Sunday and the locals began to report that a confrontation was taking place in the municipality.
According to preliminary information, everything is due to harassment, presumably perpetrated by the Clan del Golfo, against the Police command, located half a block from the main park.
Gustavo León Zapata, mayor of the municipality confirmed that the situation took place from 8:00 at night and explained that for now there is one dead and two injured. One of the injured is a civilian and the other is a police officer.
“Right now the municipality is being militarized by the Air Force and the National Police. They killed one of the insurgents and here we are with the population, all very dismayed”, narrated the local president.
The official stated that, during the afternoon, work had begun to verify the authenticity of a pamphlet that notified the end of the armed strike at midnight this Sunday, but there was no certainty that a confrontation could be unleashed.
The mayor of San Pedro indicated that the Public Force responded to the request for accompaniment and sent a message to the national government and the Antioquia Governor’s Office: “We have been insisting since last Saturday that our municipality needs more force to respond to the insurgency”.
