The health commission of southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality said on Friday it had discovered an imported case of monkeypox.

The case is an overseas traveler to Chongqing. The patient developed symptoms, including a rash, during his 40s.

A lab test was performed, and the results were positive for monkeypox virus nucleic acid. Experts have diagnosed it as a confirmed case of monkeypox.

The patient is currently in quarantine and is being treated at a designated hospital. He is in stable condition. All of his close contacts have been placed under medical observation.
