One of the most common food contamination surfaces.. How do you keep cutting boards safe?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Food and Drug Authority in Saudi Arabia stated, through its official account on the “Twitter” website, that cutting boards are among the most surfaces that can cause food contamination.. so what should you do?

First, non-porous surfaces, such as plastic or ceramic, are preferable to being easier to clean than wood surfaces.

Cutting boards should be washed in hot, soapy water following each use, rinsed with clean water, and dried with air or clean paper towels.

The Food and Drug Authority in Saudi Arabia indicated the need to use a cutting board for ready-to-eat food products, such as bread and salads, and to use another cutting board for raw meat and poultry to prevent the transmission of microbes.

Finally, be sure to replace all plastic and wooden cutting boards as soon as they wear out or cracks start to appear on their surfaces.
