This initiative, which is part of the festivities marking the celebration of the 43rd anniversary of the recovery of the province of Oued Eddahab, also aims to maintain the cleanliness of the marine environment in general, and of the beaches very frequented by the population during the summer season in particular.

On this occasion, a rich and varied awareness program of educational and recreational activities was developed for the benefit of children and holidaymakers at four beaches in Dakhla, namely PK25, Oum Labouir, Moussafir and Playa Lakhira, the statement said.

It should be noted that the Dakhla coastal environmental monitoring project, launched by ONEE – Electricity Branch, and supervised by the “Eagle AI” start-up, aims to develop a digital environmental monitoring tool combining remote monitoring of detection data (satellite photos) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to detect plastic waste and determine its quantities at the four beaches targeted during the awareness days.
