Minister P. Rajeev said that only one name was considered for Kochi and Thrikkakara and this was not the first time that non-partisans were contesting full time. Rajeev said it was the party’s policy to bring in candidates who excel in various fields. In Thrikkakara, Dr. Rajiv was reacting following announcing Joe Joseph as the LDF candidate.
‘The CPM only discussed the candidate today. Only one name was considered, and he was chosen unanimously. Political activity is not just full-time activity. Political activity is a combination of professionals, engineers and doctors. Earlier, many had sided with the CPM. But now many are coming inside the CPM. One of the most important of them is Dr. Joe – Rajeev said.
