The Cretans were the first to threaten. Adrian Riera beat Ouazdi Keshrida in a duel and found himself up against Gabriele Marchezani, but the 28-year-old Italian goalkeeper made a great save. Marchezani also had to show his skills in the 15th minute, impressively blocking the strong shot of Ion Toral. Shortly after half an hour, OFI squandered a third great chance, with Aaron Leya Iseka not finding the target after Toral’s wonderful pass.
In the last minutes of the first part, Peristeriotes increased their performance. They even had a crossbar (on the left) in the 40th minute, with a header by Diego Valencia after a cross from the left by Nikos Athanasios, while three minutes after the powerful shot of Pierre Conte went past the same crossbar of the goal of Nikos Christogeorgos.
