Ontario Minimum Wage Increase: $16.55 per Hour Boosts Workers’ Income by $2,200 Yearly

The minimum wage in Ontario increased from $15.50 to $16.55 per hour on 1is october. This increase of $1.05 corresponds to $2,200 more each year in the pockets of workers in the province.

The Ontario government announced this increase in the minimum wage last March, with the aim of helping families “offset the increased cost of living,” the province said in a press release.

Ontario is now on the podium of provinces offering the highest minimum wage, behind Yukon ($16.77) and British Columbia ($16.75).

Remember that the minimum wage in Quebec is $15.25 per hour.
