OPAP innovates by supporting eSports athlete Nasos Vasalakis

For the first time in Greece, an eSports athlete is supported through the OPAP Champions program

The daily effort, the demanding program, the constant search for competitive success and the imprint of this whole process on Greek society are the central pillars of the OPAP Champions program, which has supported and continues to support young and talented athletes from the Greek territory.

Society is a living organism in itself and the OPAP Champions program does not stand still. Instead it adapts, expands and follows new sporting trends. The world of eSports is a huge community on a global level and this industry is developing rapidly in Greece as well. In this context, OPAP innovates by joining the team of OPAP Champions Nasos Vasalakis, who has many distinctions in eSports representing our country at the highest level.

Who is Nasos Vasalakis?

Born in Athens in 1999, Nasos Vasalakis started playing football at the age of 7. That love, like many kids of his generation, carried over to video games through FIFA. It started as a hobby, however in 2017, at the age of 18, he started participating in international tournaments. Since then, he has 41 firsts in tournaments he has taken part in, while for two consecutive years he was crowned champion of Greece. He is the only Greek athlete who has managed to enter the world top 100 representing our country at the highest level. “I am especially glad that the eSports are gradually getting the recognition they deserve.” he said in his statements.
