Opinion Survey: Congress in Karnataka Views BJP’s Poor Governance

After the announcement of elections, an ABP-CV survey reveals that the Congress is expected to win in Karnataka. The survey predicts that Congress will secure 115 to 127 seats, while BJP will receive 68 to 80 seats. Janadatal is expected to win 23 to 35 seats. More than half (50.5%) of the respondents believed that the current BJP government’s performance is poor. Only 27.7% of respondents were satisfied with their administration. Furthermore, 57.1% of the survey respondents expressed anger towards the current government.

The survey also included opinions regarding Chief Minister Basuraja Bommai’s administration, with 46.9% opining that it was poor and 26.8% considered it good. The survey highlighted various issues faced by Karnataka such as lack of employment opportunities, insufficient infrastructure, and political matters. Almost 30.8% of the respondents believed that the government’s stance on wearing hijabs and granting the minority status of Lingayats would be critical in the upcoming elections. While 24.6% considered secularism as a significant factor.

The survey also revealed that 39.1% of the respondents wanted Siddaramaiah of the Congress as the next Chief Minister, while 31.1% preferred Bommai. Elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10, with the counting of votes and declaration of results slated for May 13. The elections will be held for the 224-member Assembly. The Congress and JD(S) released lists of 124 and 93 members, respectively.

The survey also had a question about Chief Minister Basuraja Bommai’s rule. 46.9 percent of them said that the administration was bad and 26.8 percent said it was good.

Voters have also pointed out the current problems in Karnataka through the survey. Lack of evidence is the main problem here. 29.1 percent voted against unemployment.

21.5 percent people said that electricity, water, roads etc. are the biggest problems.

30.8 percent said that the government’s stance on wearing the hijab and the minority status of Lingayats will become important factors in the upcoming elections.

But 24.6 percent say that secularism is going to become a major factor in the elections.

Survey data also shows that Karnataka wants Siddaramaiah of the Congress as the next Chief Minister. 39.1 percent people voted for Siddaramaiah. But 31.1 percent people also want Bommai.

21.4 and 3.2 votes were recorded for HD Kumaraswamy of JDS, Congress state president DK and Sivakumar respectively.

Elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10. The counting of votes will be on the 13th. Elections will be held for the 224-member Assembly. Last day, the Congress released the list of 124 people and the JD(S) released the list of 93 people.
