“Oppenheimer” received 13 nominations for the British BAFTA Awards

Director Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer” dominated the nominations for the British BAFTA Film Awards, which will be distributed on February 18, in continuation of the events witnessed by the major film awards.

Nolan’s film about the inventor of the nuclear bomb received 13 nominations for BAFTA Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Irishman Cillian Murphy, after he had previously won a large number of other awards.

Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos came in second place in the BAFTA nominations, as this film, which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, received 11 nominations, one of which went to Emma Stone in the Best Actress category.

As for Martin Scorsese’s historical film “Killers of the Flower Moon,” it was nominated for nine awards, along with “Zone of Interest,” which won the grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

The French film “Anatomy Don Shoot”, which deals with the trial of a woman accused of killing her husband, received nominations for best picture, best foreign language film, best director for Justine Trier, best screenplay and best actress for Sandra Holer.

Thus, the film that won the Palme d’Or at the last Cannes Film Festival confirmed its global success, by winning the Best Foreign Language Film award, after it won in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Critics’ Choice Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards in early January, hoping He will crown his career with an Oscar in the spring, as the film “The Artist” did about a decade ago.

As for British cinema, Emerald Fennell’s film “Saltburn” received five nominations, including three for its actors Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi and Rosamund Pike.

The British film “How to Half Sex”, directed by young director Molly Manning Walker, had three nominations, after it won the “Un Certain Regard” award at the Cannes Film Festival.

The BAFTA Awards ceremony, like the Golden Globes, is an indication of what the Oscars, which are distributed in March in Los Angeles, may lead to.
