Orban was given a speech at the right-wing conservative conference in Brussels

The decision to stop the two-day NatCon conference was taken by the mayor of the Brussels district where it was to be held, and the police took up positions outside the venue on Tuesday. The reason was fear of demonstrations.

Among those who reacted strongly was Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.

– It is unconstitutional to ban political conferences, he wrote on X.

On Wednesday morning, a Belgian court ruled that the ban violated the right to freedom of assembly and gave the organizers the green light to continue the conference as planned.

Among those who entered the podium a few hours later was Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who thundered against the attempt to stop the conference.

– The oppression against those who fight for freedom increases every single day in many European countries, he said.

– Freedom in Europe and especially in Brussels is in danger, Orban added.

Threats to Europe

Several of the participants at the conference belong far to the right, among them the French presidential candidate Eric Zemmour. He was refused entry on Tuesday, but was in place on Wednesday.

– Thanks to God, thanks to the pressure we exerted, thanks to the scandal throughout Europe, Europe has shown that it is still a continent where liberal democracy and the rule of law live, he said.

Among the topics raised during the right-wing conservative conference were “threats to the faith and the family” as well as “challenges of the woke culture: An international question”.

Several of the speakers spoke out against what they referred to as threats from immigration, Islam and homosexuals in Europe.
