Orders issued to block names of non-filers – Pakistan

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken a major step against non-tax filers and issued orders to block their accounts.

The federal government has stepped up measures to increase revenue and work is being done on an emergency basis to trace tax defaulters.

6 lakh 6 thousand 671 tax defaulters have been identified by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) of the federal government.

FBR has issued an order that the mobile phones of these 6 lakh 6 thousand 671 people should be blocked.

After the orders of the Federal Board of Revenue, these people will no longer be able to use their mobile phone SIM.

The FBR says that more than 66,000 identified individuals are eligible to file income tax returns but are not paying tax.

According to FBR, all these people are not included in the active tax payer list of Federal Board of Revenue due to which their connections can be closed at any time and instructions have been issued to PTA in this regard.

FBR has mandated PTAs and telecom companies to submit the implementation report by May 15.

It should be noted that the government is determined to collect maximum revenue due to the current economic difficulties. In the past few days, the Prime Minister had issued OSD to 12 FBR officers involved in corruption and also issued inquiry orders against them.
