Orioles overcome Trout’s homer to beat Angels 3-1

BALTIMORE (AP) — Kyle Bradish pitched impressively into the seventh inning and Austin Hays homered as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Mike Trout homered for the Angels, who dipped to .500 for their eighth loss in 11 games.

Bradish (2-1) allowed one run and four hits in 6 2-3 innings against the team that drafted him. He prescribed five strikeouts and did not give away tickets.

Danny Coulombe, Cuban Yennier Cano and Dominican Felix Bautista got the last seven outs. Bautista pitched the ninth inning for 11 saves in 14 chances.

Trout drew a one-out walk from Bautista, and Shohei Ohtani came to the batter’s box. The Japanese struck out throwing him and Hunter Renfroe raised a lob to center field to end the match.

Griffin Canning (2-2) allowed three runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.

For the Angels, Venezuelan Luis Rengifo 1-0. Colombian Gio Urshela 3-1.

For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander 4-2.
