The Orlando Pirates hosted Sekhukhune United tonight in the 2022/2023 Nedbank Cup final at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. After a hotly contested encounter, the Orlando Pirates were crowned champions of the 2022/2023 season after beating Sekhukhune United 2-1.
Sekhukhune got off to a good start and opened the scoring in the 12th minute, thanks to Sibusiso Vilakazi who took advantage of a loose ball in the area to score in the opposite corner. The Buccaneers came close to equalizing in the 21st minute. Despite dominating in the first half, they struggled to find the fault in attack, with Monnapule Saleng and Lorch coming up against Sekhukhune defenders. The Pirates get a half-time penalty and calmly convert it to put the two teams level at the break.

With the game looking headed for extra time, the Pirates scored the winning goal five minutes into added time through an instinctive finish from Terrence Dzvukamanja, sealing their second title of the season.
