Regarding the “Osaka Marathon / Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon Integrated Tournament” scheduled for 27th of this month, the organizing committee of the tournament decided to cancel the general runner section due to the spread of the new coronavirus.
The tournament is a combination of the “Osaka Marathon,” which is the second largest after the Tokyo Marathon, and the “Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon,” which has the longest history in Japan and has been held as a representative selection race for the Olympic Games. It was supposed to be held on a course around the inside.
However, in light of the medical strain caused by the spread of the new coronavirus, the organizing committee of the Games decided to cancel the general runner section on the 16th.
It was decided that it would be difficult to hold a 20,000-person citizen marathon.
The handling of entry fees will be announced on the tournament website at a later date.
On the other hand, we are planning to hold an elite division in which top players from Japan will participate and compete for the right to participate in the MGC = Marathon Grand Championship, which is the representative selection for the Paris Olympics next year.
On top of that, we will ask about 300 athletes who are planning to participate in the PCR test in advance, and we will take thorough measures such as calling for refraining from supporting along the road.
