Oscar Mutebi, the Private Secretary in State House and Personal Assistant to former Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, has pledged to provide computers and ICT equipment to Molly and Paul Secondary School in Masaka District to bridge the digital divide for rural learners.
ICT Support for Rural Learners in Kamuzinda
During a Music, Dance and Drama event held Wednesday in Kamuzinda, Mr. Mutebi committed to upgrading the school’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department. The State House official stated that the provision of computers will occur within the current financial quarter as part of an effort to extend essential social services to his home village school.
Beyond computing hardware, Mutebi promised additional educational tools, including television sets and a public address system, intended to modernize the learning environment and improve information access for students in the Kyanamukaka Town Council area.
Impact of Molly and Paul Secondary School on Masaka Education
The establishment of Molly and Paul Secondary School has reduced the distance students in Kyanamukaka must travel to access secondary education. Previously, learners in the region relied on institutions such as St. Mugaga Secondary School, Kabwoko Secondary School, and Kitovu Technical Institute.
Hon. Zaina Nakidde, the Mayor of Kyanamukaka Town Council and a parent at the school, described the institution as a model for rural development. She noted that the school’s growth was supported by development partners, including Mr. Adam William and Ms. Janet from the United States of America, who assisted in setting up structures and provided support for the school and students.
Mr. Paul, one of the school’s founders, attributed the institution’s success to a combination of faith, community cooperation, and financial sponsorship from Mr. William in the U.S. He credited the school’s existence to a vision developed through prayer and realized via community support.
Community Investment and Student Development
While attending the student performances, Mr. Mutebi observed plays focusing on taxation, social segregation, and community survival. He noted that such extracurricular activities prepare students to understand societal challenges and act as agents of change.

Mutebi urged local residents to support and protect individuals and investors who bring development to rural areas. “We cannot develop without treating investors well and ensuring that we are grateful for their contribution to the community. Instead of involving ourselves in politics, let us prioritise working for the people,” he said.
Following the event at Molly and Paul Secondary School, Mr. Mutebi visited St. Mugaga Secondary School. During this interaction, he encouraged students to prioritize discipline, develop a consistent reading culture, and maintain an interest in current affairs to prepare for future roles as professionals and entrepreneurs.
