Hundreds of open-air cinema enthusiasts gathered at the Perle du Lac expecting a routine summer screening. Instead, they were greeted by the Malaysian actress who secured the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2023 for her role as Evelyn Wang, marking a historic milestone as the first Asian actress to win the category. Taking the microphone in English, Yeoh addressed the crowd before the film began. She explained that her presence at the lakeside venue was entirely due to “chance” and wished the audience an excellent evening.
