Emily Bégin and Théodore Lemay-Thivierge were to take part in the musical Our, this summer, but they ultimately gave up on holding the show.
Entourage, which produces Our, indicated Tuesday, to the QMI Agency, that the controversy involving Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge, Emily’s husband and Théodore’s father, is not linked to the fact that they decided not to go on stage.
“This change in distribution is not linked to the latest events associated with Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge. Emily and Theodore informed us several weeks ago that scheduling conflicts unfortunately prevented them from taking part in the project. Emily and Théodore were saddened to have to abandon their role, but they made this carefully considered decision in the interest of family balance. Entourage respected their decision,” we said in a statement sent by email.

A call for distribution was launched on January 31 and auditions took place on February 26, in Montreal, aimed at replacing Emily Bégin and Théodore Lemay-Thivierge, therefore before the famous video of Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge which caused an outcry. In it, Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge made a joke with racist connotations. He has since lost his contract as host of the show Masked singersVAT.

It’s Marilou Morin, who we recently saw in Alerts and in Indefensible, who takes over the role of Loretta that Emily Bégin was to play. Eliot Dupras (The perfect moments, 5e rang) and Diego Flint Djebari (Symphonic harmonium et Nutcracker) for their part alternately interpret Monsieur Émile, the character that Théodore Lemay-Thivierge was to portray.

A first song
Entourage also unveiled a first song on Tuesday, Than a life, to set the table for the tour which will take off next August in Sherbrooke, Gatineau, Montreal and Quebec, and which will continue in 2025, mainly in the metropolitan region and in Centre-du-Québec.
Carried by the two main performers of the show, Audrey-Louise Beauséjour (Élise) of Star Academy and Matthieu Lévesque (Florent), the ride Than a life recounts the reunion of Élise and Florent after a couple’s quarrel linked to the man’s infidelity. The play is about forgiveness, hope, heartbreak and love.

The lyrics are by Jessy Brouillard, who signs the libretto, music and lyrics of the We are, an adaptation of the book by Yves Beauchemin and the film by Jean Beaudin. The arrangements and production are the work of Antoine Gratton, who served as musical director of the 10th season of The voice.

The tour will continue in 2025
Ours will be presented in Sherbrooke (August 2-3-8-9), Gatineau (August 15-16-17-22-23-24), Montreal (October 29 and November 1-2-3-7-8-9-10 ) and Quebec (November 29-30 and December 26-27-28-29-30), then the troupe will go on tour next year. We wanted to visit several cities, so the decorations and packaging were adapted for the occasion in order to simplify the logistics as much as possible.
