Others who had spontaneously joined the jubilant crowd applaud and shout “Gatsa Gatsa”. It is with difficulty that the leader of Pastef and his procession were able to make their way, in front of this human tide, to arrive at the house of the father of the late Mamadou Korka Ba, who died on March 20, 2023, during political demonstrations in Bignona, to offer their condolences.
“Mamadou Korka Ba, who was horribly killed in the streets of Bignona on March 20, 2023. We had the impression that on this day of his call to God, there was national mourning in Senegal because his death was hit not only Bignona and all of natural Casamance but also all of Senegal,” Ousmane Sonko said to the grieving family.
Before continuing: “We attribute the death of all these young people who fell here in Bignona to Macky Sall. The late Mamadou Korka Ba is a martyr. I say to those who say that “whoever loses their life in a demonstration will go to hell, because their fight is not a pious fight, but their fight is motivated by worldly goods, that is false. We know religion and it does not belong to anyone. This is why we ask his family to accept only the divine will,” added Ousmane Sonko.
During the Korité, Alioune Moussa Samb, Imam of the great mosque of Dakar had in his sermon said that “All those who die during these insignificant demonstrations will go to hell. What they are doing has nothing to do with the Islamic jihad”.
“Macky will no longer be able to prevent us from going out in the streets”
The leader of Pastef accuses President Macky Sall of being the one and only responsible for the death of all the young people who were killed in the streets of Bignona during political demonstrations.
“We must never be afraid, because God has finished tracing our path since we arrived in this low world. Never in the history of Senegal have so many deaths been recorded. It was under the Macky Sall era that so many young people were cowardly killed in political demonstrations. Less than a year ago, I came here to Bignona to offer my condolences to the family of young Mohamed Diatta. These are things that hurt, that’s why I established the ”Gatsa Gasta”. Persecution must have limits in Senegal”, advises Ousmane Sonko.
He points out that “Senegal has now reached the red line and the worst can happen at any time”. Sonko took advantage of his meeting with his activists and supporters of Bignona to send a message to Macky Sall and his regime.
“I want him (Macky) to say that we have understood everything he wants to do and that is nothing but to prevent the Senegalese from going out. Every day, we hear of imprisonments in Senegal. He wants nothing more than to scare the Senegalese so that they don’t go out anymore. This is the reason why we tell him that we will not back down, ”warns Ousmane Sonko.
