Outlook’s spam filters go wrong

Users of Microsoft’s e-mail service, including Outlook, Hotmail and Live addresses, received an unusually large amount of spam yesterday Monday. The issue should now be resolved.

Both on Twitter and on Reddit and on several forums, Outlook users complained that their mailbox was letting through a lot of spam, whereas in the main, the latter are largely automatically eliminated.

These were Microsoft mailboxes, email addresses with the suffixes @outlook.com, @hotmail.com and @live.com, among others. Any user of the email program or the Outlook mobile app with another email address was not affected.

The origin of the problem was initially not known. Microsoft however states on its status page that some users received more spam on Monday. The company would then have discovered and addressed the source of the problem. Now, unwanted emails would be better filtered once more.
