This Friday, December 15, a scene that was confusing to say the least took place on the E40 motorway in Neveme, near Ostend. Indeed, a driver was transporting a goat and a lamb with him in a trailer attached to his vehicle. The object of Internet users’ anger? Both animals were only restrained by a collar around their necks.
Once shared online, the images quickly sparked outrage. Dierewelzijn Vlaanderen, an animal protection organization in Flanders, reacted in particular to the media Het Laatste Nieuws. “In the transport of animals, there are several requirements that drivers must comply with,” lamented the organization, which intends to look into the matter more closely. “Once we have examined the situation, we can write an official report.”
”I pity these animals! Who knows what will happen to them again,” says an Internet user on X. “If you break the law, you should be punished,” protests another.
