Books – Muhammad Al-Rubi:

Over the past few days, lists of “over-price” averages imposed on new cars have spread through social media and a number of car news sites.

The rates of increase on some models reached 75% of the total official price, in violation of the recent decisions of the Consumer Protection Agency, which stipulates adding only 5% of the official car price to the final sale price.

An informed source said that the agency is working with full force to repel violations of the Egyptian market for various types of goods, and the concerned departments and departments monitor the markets around the clock to achieve this.

The source added in a statement to “Masrawy” that the agency receives citizens’ complaints and takes the necessary measures immediately, and monitors the markets through the relevant committees.

The source explained that the agency will not act to confront a number of posts on social media that may be false, as there must be actual proven facts to take action against violators.

The most prominent overprice values spread in the past few days were on Hyundai Tucson, worth 570,000 pounds, out of its total official price of 755 thousand pounds, at 75%, Kia Sportage, worth 540 thousand pounds, out of its total official price of 720,000 pounds, at 75%, and Chevrolet Captiva, with a value of 340 thousand pounds. Its total official price is 480,000 pounds, at a rate of 70%.
