A representative for Elton confirmed to MailOnline that the 76-year-old was released from hospital on Monday morning and returned home “in good health”.

A source in Nice said: “Alton had a small domestic accident at his villa in Mont-Boron. He was hospitalized in the orthopedic ward at Princess Grace Hospital, but only suffered minor injuries. He underwent examinations and did not reveal any fractures.

Alton was last seen enjoying a relaxing day on his luxury yacht with a group of friends in Saint-Tropez on August 22.
