Oxxos: Young people who recently joined the CJNG, who set fire

Miguel, Carlos and Víctor, three young people who have recently entered the Jalisco New Generation Cartel provoked a chase by municipal police on Tuesday night, until they were cornered by at least five patrol cars, after setting fire to Oxxos in Celaya.

A video held by MILLENNIUM exhibits the persecution against the first criminals arrested minutes after the simultaneous fires in several municipalities of Guanajuato this week.

The images from different cameras of the Guanajuato Coordination, Command, Control, Communications, Computing and Intelligence (C5i) system show the attempted escape of three of the CJNG detainees, who were presented in the “Zero impunity” section of the conference of press of the President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and detained by municipal police of Celaya.

The young people fled aboard a red Ford pickup. After detecting the vehicle, a municipal patrol chases them and then another one that was circulating in the opposite lane joins.

Other units arrive at the operation streets further on. On an avenue, several vehicles circulate and a passenger truck is pulled over at a pick-up and drop-off stop, when the men make a sudden turn in their attempt to escape from the police.

Minutes later, another surveillance camera captures the moment when at least five Celaya police units corner the gunmen and apprehend them.

Miguel, Carlos and Víctor dressed in military style with boots and helmets, and wore bulletproof vests with the initials of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. In the back of the truck they carried a green bag with metallic stars, known as “tire punches.”

In addition to the evidence of the crimes that they had just perpetrated: three jugs with the gasoline that was left over after the fires in establishments in Celaya. Authorities in charge of the investigation confirmed to MILLENNIUM that these three young people had no criminal record in Guanajuato or arrest warrants, so it is believed that they recently joined the criminal group.

They also pointed out that because they are not only violent actions, but also with the intention of causing terror in the population, the 11 detainees in Guanajuato will be investigated and tried under the crime of terrorism. The authorities continue the investigations to apprehend the rest of the criminals who participated in the violent acts, mainly in Irapuato, where no arrests have been made.
