Pablo Arosemena Marriott assumed this Tuesday, July 5, 2022 the position of Minister of Economy and Finance. His career stands out in the private sector and in the last year in the public sector.

In this way, Arosemena leaves her position as Governor of Guayasafter nine months. In that post, he spearheaded efforts to combat crime in the province. Only in Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón, the three most populous cantons of Guayas, 3.8 violent deaths are recorded per day.

Arosemena has been part of the environment of current President Guillermo Lasso since his political campaign. He was the head of economic equipment.

Previously, he held managerial positions in the private sector. He was president of the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil (CCG) and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Ecuador.

He has been an entrepreneur in solar energy, real estate, franchises and consulting. co-founder of Formacción, a training center franchise, and Crece Ecuador, the first collaborative financing platform.

He participated in the Global Leadership and Public Policy program at Harvard Kennedy School and in the Leadership and Competitiveness program at Georgetown University.

In 2016, he was designated as one of the 150 most influential people in Latin America, by the America Economics Magazine. In 2017, he was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. In 2020, he was recognized in the top 100 business leaders with best reputation by Merco.

Regarding her training, Arosemena is economist, Master in Political Science, Master in Finance and Doctor in Economics.

In a statement, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) pointed out that the new head will be in charge of leading the economic reactivation of the entire country, “which translates into the generation of sources of employment and an improvement in the
quality of life of the population, especially the neediest”.
