Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that it will boycott the 2023 Asia Cup cricket tournament if it is shifted to Sri Lanka. It was initially decided to hold the tournament in Pakistan. After this was changed, Pakistan announced its position.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sait informed the Asian Cricket Council that if it is difficult to hold the tournament in Pakistan, UAE should be the venue instead. The PCB chairman also stated that he will not accept any other venue.

It was decided to hold all the matches except India’s matches in the country if Pakistan hosted it. It has also been decided to hold India’s matches in the UAE. But Sri Lanka is being considered as a new venue due to BCCI’s argument that it will be very hot in UAE in September and this will adversely affect the players.

But PCB pointed out that BCCI had previously held IPL in UAE in the month of September. The Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from September 2 to 17. This year the Asia Cup will be held in ODI format.
