Pakistan Steel Mills Restoration Work Begins – Business & Economy

The federal government has started work regarding the rehabilitation of Pakistan Steel Mills. The Ministry of Industries and Production has formed an eight-member committee on Saturday to work on the rehabilitation of Pakistan Steel Mills.

According to the official notification, the committee formed under the chairmanship of Federal Secretary Industries and Production, Additional Secretary Industries and Production, Senior Member Board of Revenue Sindh, Joint Secretary Finance, CEO of PIDC, Workers Union of Pakistan Steel Mills. Apart from the representative, director technical and corporate secretary, two independent board members of Pakistan Steel Mills are also included.

The committee will also examine the plan to close Pakistan Steel Mills and sell its plant and machinery. At the same time, this committee will also examine the possibilities of rehabilitating Pakistan Steel Mills with the cooperation of the private sector.

It may be recalled that the Caretaker Government had removed Pakistan Steel Mills from the list of state-owned enterprises that were slated for sale due to persistent losses.
