Panasonic announces Lumix G9 II mirrorless camera with new sensor and more

A Panasonic this week revealed its new first Micro 4/3 mirrorless camera with autofocus and hybrid phase detection (PDAF). In this case, it is the Lumix G9 IIwhich arrives as a successor to the G9 with a 20MP sensor launched in 2017. Therefore, the new model comes with updates and new features.

One of the upgrades made to this new model is precisely its sensor, which now has 25.2 megapixels. In this sense, it has the ability to make videos ProRes 5.7K and 4K at 60 frames per second. Additionally, the camera comes with 8-stop optical stabilization.

The sensor, in fact, has the same resolution as the model and comes with a new system that allows better focusing in backlit and low lighting conditions, in addition to faster object tracking. Likewise, it is capable of detecting human bodies, eyes and also faces, in addition to identifying animals, motorcycles and cars.

With continuous autofocus, the brand claims that the new mirrorless camera is capable of shooting without blackout at 60 frames per second. As for its features, it is worth highlighting the SH pre-burst recording function, which has the ability to take photos up to 1.5 seconds before the shutter opens.


It is also worth mentioning features such as Dynamic Range Boost and Live View Composite, both inherited from the GH6 model. The Lumix G9 II also offers the possibility of recording videos directly to an external SSD via the USB-C Gen 3.2 port.

The company’s new product is scheduled to launch in November for the price of 1.899 euros (R$ 10,025 in direct conversion). There is also the possibility of purchasing the item with a Lumix 12-60 mm lens for 2.099 euros (R$ 11.081).

The company also announced a new Leica DG 100-400mm f/4-6.3 II Power OIS lens for 1.699 euros (R$ 8,969), which arrives in January 2024, in addition to the Leica DG 35-100mm f/2.8, which costs 1.099 euros (R$ 5,801) and will be launched together with the camera.
