In a match that was as even as it was irregular, the Panthers took the second victory of the Pre-Olympic against Bulgaria in a tie-break with scores of 25-14, 14-25, 25-20, 19-25 and 18-16. Bianca Cugno was the game’s top scorer with 20 points.

The match started in favor of Las Panteras 4-0 thanks to the attack of Daniela Bulaich and the serves of Bianca Farriol that complicated the Bulgarian reception. Argentina stretched its lead to 10-3 with great work in defense and blocking. An ace from Bulaich made Las Panteras 12-3. Farriol again complicated Bulgaria from the serve and the Panthers reached the final stretch 20-9. The National Team had several balls to close the set and finally Candelaria Herrera counterattacked and gave Argentina the first set 25-14.

The second set started with greater intensity and with Bulgaria more involved in the match. The European team took a lead of four at 10-6, which forced a technical timeout from Daniel Castellani. The Panthers defended very well but it was difficult for them to finish the counterattack, so Bulgaria made even more of a difference and went up 14-7. The European team reached the final stretch 20-11 and tied the match by closing the set 25-14.

The third set started evenly and with a high volume of play from both teams. The Panthers took a 9-6 lead with great finishing on Bulaich’s counterattack. Bulgaria recovered and tied the match at 15. A couple of blocks by Farriol gave Argentina a two-point lead, which took five to reach 20-15 at the end of the set and then closed it 25-20 with a great performance of the opposite, Bianca Cugno.

In the fourth set Bulgaria quickly took a 8-2 lead due to several attacking errors by Las Panteras. A defensive point from Candelaria Herrera gave Argentina a morale boost, which came within two points at 11-9, but the European team once again gained a four-point lead. An ace from Victoria Mayer once again brought Las Panteras closer to 20-18, two behind Bulgaria, but the Bulgarians did not let up and took the fourth set 25-19.

The Panthers began the tie-break 3-1 up due to several errors by the Bulgarian attack, but the Europeans immediately equalized the match and with great work in defense and counterattack they took a two-advantage at 4-6. Argentina, with a lot of patience, tied it at 8 and the game remained tied until 13-all when the national team led 14-13 but could not close it. Bulgaria turned it around, had two match points, but Las Panteras reacted and with an ace from Antonela Fortuna they were match point at 17-16 and Bulaich, the most decisive player of the fifth set, closed the match 18-16 for Argentina takes the second win of the tournament.
