Last weekend in Descartes, the national competition delivered its verdict. Local cyclist, Thomas Tarou, responded.

See you next season. The Cofidis French Handisport Cup delivered its verdict last weekend, September 16 and 17, during the last round organized in Descartes, in Indre-et-Loire. With UV Descartes at the helm, the event took place over two days, with the road race on Saturday and the time trial on Sunday. Nearly a hundred paracyclists took part in the competition.

Tarou, overall winner

The results of the two races remained significantly similar, with always the same names in the hierarchies created. Except in handbike where Riadh Tarsim, multiple world medalist and silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympic Games (in H1-5 team relay), and Ludovic Narce, swapped their places between the sprint and the road race. As for Raphaël Beaugillet, bronze medalist on the track in Tokyo, the competition was reserved for him. He achieved the best overall time in the time trial with his driver, Noël Richet, while they won the tandem road race the day before with a considerable lead.

UV Descartes member Thomas Tarou was aiming for victory in the solos at home. The local of the event did not succeed against Jérôme Beaumont. In the straight race, the Tourangeau only lost in the last meters. But this result should be taken with a grain of salt: his opponent, having less handicap than him (Editor’s note: he is in class 5) and experienced track rider, has more ease than him (class 2). Thomas Tarou still gleans the general classification of the Coupe de France thanks to his lead acquired earlier in the season.

The next competition awaiting paracyclists is the Montlouis Handisport Trophy scheduled for October 14.
