Why celebrate May 5 in the United States?
In the United States, the commemoration of the Battle of May 5, 1862 in which the Mexican army defeated the French in the Forts of Loreto and Guadalupe, in Puebla, is a reason for celebration not only for the Mexican community, but for all of Latin America.
The activities carried out in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Arizona and New Mexico, every May 5, are above those organized on the occasion of Mexican Independence Day, on September 16.
