Paris Saint-Germain announced today, Saturday, the absence of Argentine striker Lionel Messi from the team’s match against Olympique Lyon, in the summit of the 20th round of the French League.
It is scheduled to host the Lyon team, its counterpart Saint Germain, on Sunday evening, at the Groupama “lights” stadium in the Rhone region, in the 20th round of the French League.
And the Parisian club said in an official statement on its website: “Lionel Messi will continue the individual recovery protocol after his recovery from infection with the emerging corona virus, which will keep him away from the upcoming match against Lyon.”
He added, “The Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will also miss the Lyon match due to his self-isolation as a result of being infected with the Corona virus.”
And he concluded: “It is expected that the Brazilian Neymar Jr. will return to the team’s training during the next 3 weeks, and he will continue to engage in qualifying exercises under the supervision of the team’s medical staff.”
Saint-Germain is at the top of the French Ligue 1 with 46 points after 19 rounds, while Lyon is in the thirteenth place with 24 points.
