Paris Saint-Germain President Urges Kylian Mbappe to Sign New Contract: Latest Updates and Real Madrid’s Pursuit

Paris Saint-Germain club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said, on Wednesday, that France captain Kylian Mbappe “must sign a new contract if he wants to stay” with the French capital team.

“We cannot allow the departure of one of the best players in the world freely,” Al-Khelaifi added during the introduction of the new Spanish coach, Luis Enrique.

The 24-year-old top scorer, world champion in 2018, has a contract with the Qatari-owned team until 2024, and last month expressed his unwillingness to extend it, which means that he wants to leave for free at the end of next season.

Al-Khelaifi explained, “He (Mbappe) said previously that he would not leave for free. If someone changes his mind, it is not my fault.”

And if Mbappe insists on not renewing, he will have to leave this summer, amid Real Madrid’s relentless efforts to obtain his services following they failed to do so in 2021.
