3 years after the death of the Lebanese composer and producer Jean Saliba, his name reappeared strongly after it was reported that his heirs had submitted an official communication against the star Amr Diab, in conjunction with the announcement of his concert in Beirut on August 19.
Lebanese concert organizer Youssef Dandash, in a special statement to “Masrawy”, said, “The star Amr Diab, between him and the late producer, are mutual issues, and they are currently being settled.”
The Lebanese composer and producer Jean Saliba, who left our world in December 2020, affected by his infection with the Corona virus, had entered into a legal dispute with the star Amr Diab, and his former business manager, Tamer Abdel Moneim, at the end of 2010.
The late producer, in the lawsuit that was held before the Lebanese court, in July 2011, accused the star, Amr Diab, and his business manager, of being responsible for canceling the party that was to be held on New Year’s Eve, and which was organized by the “Dilara Master” company owned by Saliba. .
Saliba confirmed in the lawsuit that marketing tickets for the concert had failed, of which only 75 tickets were sold, although ticket prices ranged between 250 and 800 US dollars, explaining that Amr Diab received about 140,000 dollars as a down payment before the concert, out of 240,000 dollars. Fee for the ceremony.
The star, Amr Diab, for his part, submitted official communications against the Lebanese producer, confirming his breach of all the terms of the contract, and his failure to obtain the necessary permits for him and his musical group, and a judgment was already issued against the producer to pay a fine of $1,300, and prevent him from leaving Lebanon, before he He is appealing this ruling.
The irony here is that the concert, which was canceled due to the crisis, was scheduled to witness the return of the star, Amr Diab, to Lebanon after an absence of 6 years, while the concert scheduled for next August comes after an absence of 13 years.
Legal advisor Hassan Mawla, “the lawyer for the company organizing the party”, said in a special statement to “Masrawy”, “Everything that is raised about the party is just rumors. There are no legal complaints against the party or the artist, Amr Diab.”
And he continued, “We, for our part, are in the process of taking legal measures against all websites and everyone who promoted these rumors, because of the material and moral damages incurred by the organizing company and the artist.”
The Lebanese artist Farid Bou Said, “Chairman of the Syndicate of Music and Singing Professionals, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Unified Mutual Fund for Artists,” in a special statement to “Masrawy”, resolved the controversy surrounding the concert of the star Amr Diab, who is witnessing his return to sing in Lebanon after an absence of 13 years, and he takes over It was organized by the Lebanese businessman Rabeh Moqbel.
The artist, Farid Bou Said, said, “What is reported about refusing to grant permits to hold the concert of the artist Amr Diab, is not true.”
And he continued, “There are procedures and fees that are required to be paid, which are as follows: 10% of the value of the concert, in addition to 2% paid in the Ministry of Finance, in favor of the Unified Mutual Fund for Artists, and in the event that it is paid, all permits have been completed, and for our part in the Syndicate we welcome the artist Amr Diab In Lebanon”.
The star Amr Diab’s concert comes 13 years after he retracted his revival of the New Year’s party in Beirut in December 2010, when a legal dispute broke out between him and the late Lebanese concert contractor Jean Saliba.
