Paris Saint-Germain sign Spanish midfielder Ruiz from Napoli

French club Paris Saint-Germain announced on Tuesday the signing of Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz from Napoli on a five-year contract.

Ruiz became the fifth deal this summer for Saint-Germain and will strengthen the midfield following the arrival of the Portuguese duo Vetnia and Renato Sanchez.

The 26-year-old spent four seasons with Napoli and won the Italian Cup in 2020.

He won the European Cup with Spain’s under-21 team in 2019 and was named the best player of the tournament. He has 15 international matches with the first team.

The former Real Betis player was in the Spain squad that reached the semi-finals of the European Cup last summer.

Saint-Germain abandoned many midfielders this summer, including the Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum to Rome and Ander Herrera to Athletic Bilbao, while the departure of Argentine Leandro Paredes to Juventus is imminent.
