Paris Saint-Germain signed Uruguay defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon for 60 million euros ($65.32 million) on a five-year deal on Friday.

The prodigy was promoted to the first team of his boyhood club Phoenix at the age of 15, and moved to Portugal to play for Famalicao before joining Sporting.

Ugarte, 22, was named to Uruguay’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar last year and won eight caps.

“I am happy with this big step in my career at this great club,” Ugarte said in a statement. “I will do everything I can for Paris Saint-Germain.”

Ugarte became the third deal for Saint-Germain within two days in preparation for the new season, following the signing of central defender Milan Shkriniar and striker Marco Asensio for free from Inter Milan and Real Madrid, respectively.

The French champions sacked coach Christophe Galtier on Wednesday and replaced him with former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique.
