Parliamentarians and political leaders in Ñuble expressed “transversal” regret – La Discusión 2024-02-11 15:41:31

The news of the death of former president Sebastián Piñera also hit home in Ñuble, where the president made several visits during his two presidential terms 2010-2014 and 2018-2022.

It was local parliamentarians who expressed themselves publicly, agreeing with the democratic spirit of the former president and highlighting the three-day official mourning together with the State funerals decreed by the Government.

Senator Gustavo Sanhueza (UDI) also recalled Piñera’s support for Ñuble’s aspirations to become a region.

“I remember this moment with special fondness President @sebastianpinera when we traveled together for the ceremony to celebrate the formal beginning of the Ñuble Region. We are going to miss his enormous capacity and call for permanent dialogue for the good of Chile,” stated the parliamentarian through his social networks.

Senator Loreto Carvajal (PPD) also spoke out. “I deeply regret the death of former president @sebastianpinera, my condolences to his family, @ceciliamorel, @RNchile and to all the Chileans who suffer with his departure. This tragedy mourns the country, no one can doubt his commitment to democracy and his love for Chile.”

From the Republican Party, the former mayor of Ñuble, Martín Arrau, also highlighted Piñera’s commitment to the new region.

“I deeply regret the death of the president. Pineapple. During his government, he entrusted us with establishing the Ñuble region and carrying out public policies that benefited the Ñublensinos. I appreciate his enthusiasm for public service. My condolences and prayers to his family and friends. As he would have liked, he remains to continue working for Chile. First thing in the morning,” he said on X, formerly Twitter.

For his part, deputy Felipe Camaño (IND) joined the general sorrow and expressed his condolences to the family.

“I regret with deep regret the death of the former President of the Republic Sebastián Piñera Echeñique, who directed the destinies of our country for two periods, I extend my deepest condolences to his wife, family and team, hoping that they can find the necessary comfort in the face of such a sensitive loss,” he stated.
