The parliamentary tram in Vienna is intended to draw attention to the reopening of the historic parliament building in Vienna’s city center on January 12, 2023 and will run on line 1 until then ).
“The House is not only the center of legislation, but above all a place for knowledge transfer and dialogue,” said National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP). The tram in the parliamentary design is intended to be one of many steps towards bringing parliamentarism closer to a broader public. The centerpiece will be the new visitor center “Democracy – Experience Parliament”. On an area of 1,500 square meters, information is to be provided regarding processes in Parliament and the history of democracy in Austria. In addition, an interactive offer for children and young people, newly designed tours and a restaurant open to the public are intended to attract more people to the Hohes Haus am Ring.
