The sprawling development includes 46 individual private pools alongside two shared communal pools measuring roughly 700 square meters and 57 square meters respectively. While the luxury project aims to draw high-income tourism, its sheer physical footprint has ignited immediate resistance across the island.
Local groups, including the Paroikia Traditional Settlement Association, are sounding the alarm. The association points to a sweeping wave of destruction across Paros over the past five years, driven by relentless investment interest and surging visitor numbers. An Open Letter to the Prime Minister
Georgousis shared his emotional reaction to photographs of the construction site, stating that the sheer scale of the disruption moved him to tears despite his decades of experience witnessing environmental damage.
I saw this photograph. Something inside me was provoked by the image of Moschoula that I might introduce you to. Then I was moved to tears. It is such a great destruction that it shocked me, me who every day was confronted due to passion with nature in major disasters (…) Finally, if there was no other way, a hotel unit could have been built higher up (we are not against development) and the shore and beach could have been saved. Instead, the whole place was uprooted on an island of a few square meters and the attraction that this natural environment, particularly harmonized with the Cyclades, exerted was lost forever. Copies of the letter were also circulated to mayors across the Cyclades. Georgousis called on local leaders to take every possible measure to defend the islands from an onslaught of wealth, luxury, and widespread regulatory disregard.

Data from the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels indicates that five-star hotel units on Paros have increased since the pre-pandemic era. Among these, 15 properties held five-star ratings with 730 rooms, while 22 properties held four-star ratings with 907 rooms. That infrastructure expansion accompanies record-breaking visitor volumes.

The public outcry has directly targeted government oversight and ministerial responsibility. In his correspondence, Georgousis argued that the Ministry of Environment must face accountability for approving developments that fundamentally alter island geography, asserting that officials were misled by inaccurate project data.
